Album spotlight: Brutal Records are bringing the HEAVY!

If you like your music heavier than a tonne of lead then you should be checking out Brutal Records. This LA-based label will be unleashing some punishing metal in the coming months and I’ve got a little taster to whet the appetite!

Perhaps the heaviest release comes from Cadaver Putrfacto who will be destroying everything in their path with their new album La Maldicion Del Zombi Errante to be released on April 6th. If you enjoy your death metal with a distinctively old-school vibe similar to early Deicide and Cannibal Corpse then these guys are going to be your new favourite band. The bands sound is thicker than your mother’s homemade broth and heavier than a night out with Oliver Reed. La Maldicion Del Zombi Errante is chock full of face-shredding riffs, growled vocals (Chris Barnes style!) and pulsating rhythms. If this sounds like your bag then be sure to check out the album on April 6th.

Next up we have Volition and their album Visions of the Onslaught. Volition treads a path that is more in tune with classic heavy metal and thrash. The riffs are razor-sharp and tracks like Theories of Punishment, Injection Vendetta and Vengeful Satisfaction are all moshpit friendly anthems played with enthusiasm, precision and at a great pace. An old-school production job works well and these 9 songs are sure to get your head moving. Check out Visions of the Onslaught when it’s released on April 6th.

Torture Squad also release their album titled Far Beyond Existence on April 6th. Far Beyond Existence is a ripper album, a heavy album and one that I was hooked on the moment Don’t Cross My Path erupted from my speakers. Simply put, Far Beyond Existence doesn’t let up. Highlights for me are Blood Sacrifice, which is the album’s longest track but features some middle eastern influences at the start. It soon explodes into a thrashing monster of a track. Hero for the Ages is another ripper song. The intro riff is pure heavy metal…..absolutely glorious. The bass-led You Must Proclaim lets the rhythm section strut their stuff. What a great riff on this song, too! I’m seriously digging these guys. Don’t let them pass you by. Far Beyond Existence is a killer album. Look for it also on April 6th.

Last up is Axegressor. Their album, also out Aril 6th, called Bannerless is a thrash album bursting with attitude, great backing vocals and songs you can’t help but bang your head to. Check out this track called In Safe Space No One Can Hear You Scream and also dig the killer cover art…Wow!

April sure is going to be a brutal month! I wouldn’t want it any other way! haha.

Keep it heavy \,,/
